Meet the Artist: Lourdes Rosas Rasdall

I was born in Cuba and spent most of my childhood and adolescent years in Puerto Rico. College took me from the Caribbean to the Tampa Bay area, where I earned a Bachelor of Arts from Eckerd College in St. Petersburg, FL. Later, I studied and practiced commercial art. Although my art took a backseat to corporate jobs and raising a family, I eventually returned to pursuing what I love most.

In 2019, I left my corporate career behind for a more creative lifestyle. Before moving to North Carolina in 2024, I kept busy with galleries and group shows, commissions, community projects, and teaching watercolor. During my last 2.5 years in Florida, I also served as the director of Suntan Art Center in St. Pete Beach, FL.

While in Florida, I was represented by St. Pete Artworks and the Craftsmen Gallery in St. Pete Beach. Since arriving in North Carolina, I have joined the Watercolor Society of North Carolina (WSNC), the Greater Topsail Art Association (GTAA), the Wilmington Arts Association (WAA), the Wilmington chapter of Urban Sketchers, the Art League of Leland (ALL), and the Wildlife Artists of the Carolinas (WAOTC), where I also serve as a board member. In 2024, I participated in numerous group shows in the Cape Fear region and became part of the instructor’s team at the Leland Cultural Art Center. Most recently, I affiliated with the Art Exposure Gallery in Hampstead, NC. My schedule for 2025 already includes two solo exhibitions, one three-artist show, and at least two plein air events.

From the Gulf of Mexico to the Carolina shoreline, I find inspiration everywhere and beauty in the details often overlooked as we rush by. I paint what makes me happy, and my art is an interpretation of the world as I see it—colorful, beautiful, and bright. No matter the medium, my signature is color
